A truck was stolen Wednesday from a university parking lot.

A male student parked his truck at 12:50 p.m. in the lot at East Mabel Street and North Martin Avenue. The truck was gone when the student returned at 1:53 p.m.

The black Chevrolet was locked and secured with a "Club" security device. Police found no evidence at the scene.

The truck was valued at $16,000.


A traffic stop Thursday at about 1 a.m. ended in the arrest of a Tucson man.

Steven M. Holzer, of the 4000 block of East North Street, made a right turn on to North Campbell Avenue at East Speedway Boulevard while the traffic light on Speedway was red. Holzer did not stop before making the turn, police reports stated.

University police stopped Holzer's blue BMW at East Mabel Street. Holzer had no Arizona driver license or proof of insurance. A computer check showed his license had been suspended. The check also showed a warrant was out for his arrest for failure to app ear at his suspension hearing.

Holzer was cited for driving with a suspended license and failure to produce evidence of financial responsibility for his car. He was warned for failure to stop and arrested on the warrant.

Holzer was taken to Pima County pretrial services.


A Jeep was stolen Thursday from the parking lot outside Alpha Phi sorority, 1071 N. Mountain Ave.

An Alpha Phi member told university police she had last seen her Jeep Cherokee Wednesday at 4 p.m. At about 9 a.m. Thursday, she noticed the vehicle missing.

The green, 1993 Jeep was valued at $17,000. A small refrigerator valued at $100, a Kenwood compact disc player valued at $450 and a UA parking permit valued $160 were in the car at the time.

There were no signs of forced entry into the vehicle.


University police arrested a Tucson man Thursday at 11:20 a.m. on a child support warrant.

The man, Fernando I. Mota-Sanchez, 42, of the 4000 block of East Fifth Street, was at UAPD headquarters, 1200 E. Lowell St., to pick up items that were being held in safekeeping.

A computer check while Mota-Sanchez was at the station showed a Pima County child support warrant for his arrest.

The man was then taken into custody and booked into Pima County Jail.


A female student lost her wallet Thursday in the UA Associated Students Bookstore, 1209 E. University Blvd.

Police reports indicate the wallet was lost between noon and 1 p.m.

The wallet contained a Victoria's Secret credit card, a Compagnie Internationale Express credit card, a checkbook, a piece of cubic zirconia, a Tucson Police Department traffic citation and $40 to $60 cash.


A handicap parking permit was taken Thursday from a truck parked in the Second Street Garage, 1340 E. Second St.

A male employee told police he parked the truck Wednesday at 8 a.m. before he went out of town. When he returned Thursday at 7:30 p.m., his driver's side window was open and his permit was gone.

The handicap permit was valued at $160.


A textbook was taken Aug. 15 from a study room in the Arizona Health Sciences Center, 1501 N. Campbell Ave.

A female student left the book in the unsecured room at 1:30 p.m. When she returned at 3 p.m., the book was missing.

The textbook was valued at $70.


A television set and freezer were taken Aug. 15 between midnight and 11:30 a.m., from the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, 1510 N. Vine Ave.

The Zenith color projection television set was valued at $200. The top-lifting commercial freezer was valued at $800.

There were no signs of forced entry, and house residents told police they had not heard or observed anything suspicious. Police said they suspect a large truck was used to move the objects.


Several items were turned in Thursday at university police headquarters.

A woman's Arizona driver license, Visa credit card, Saguaro Credit Union debit card, and several "miscellaneous" items were placed in found property.
