A male student reported annoying phone calls Tuesday to university police.

The student, a resident of Apache-Santa Cruz Residence Hall, 1420 E. Fifth St., told police he had been receiving the phone calls for the last month.

The student told police the caller hangs up each time the student picks up the phone.

The student also told police he does not know who is making the calls, but that he has used the *57 function on his phone to trace the calls.

The student was told to contact police if the problem persists.


A man attempted to steal a bell Wednesday from the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity house, 1801 E. First St.

A resident of the house told police he heard footsteps on the roof at 5:41 a.m. The resident went outside and saw the man taking the bell off the roof.

The resident yelled at the man, who then dropped the bell. The bell fell to the ground, hitting the resident on the hand.

The resident did not need medical attention, according to police reports.

The man fled the scene before police arrived.


A stereo was taken Wednesday from a Jeep parked in the Lot 4056 at East Speedway Boulevard and North Cherry Avenue.

A male student parked his 1989 Jeep Wrangler in the lot at 7:55 a.m. He returned at 1:50 p.m. to discover his stereo and two speakers missing.

The speakers were attached to the car with Velcro and were easy to remove, according to police reports.

There was no damage to the Jeep.

The value of the speakers and the Alpine AM/FM cassette stereo were unknown.


A bus pass was reported stolen Monday.

A male student told police, through an interpreter, that he had ridden the bus to school Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m.

The student said he was sitting outside the Center for English as a Second Language, 1100 E. North Campus Drive, with his wallet in his backpack. The student said his backpack was zipped and lying nearby.

At 10:30 p.m., the student noticed his backpack missing and checked his wallet. The bus pass was gone.

The Sun Tran semester bus pass was valued at $40.


An unknown person called university police Monday to report a vandalized car in UA Lot 5070 at East Sixth Street and North Euclid Avenue.

Police found a 1995 Honda Accord with the "triangle" section of the driver's side rear window broken. The stereo appeared missing.

The owner of the car is male student, but a current phone number was not available.

A police business card was placed under the car's windshield wiper blade, where there was already a parking citation.


A bicycle was taken Tuesday from outside the Education building, 1401 E. Second St.

A female student told police she thought she had secured her bicycle to an east rack with a U-lock at 11 a.m.

At noon, she returned to find her bicycle missing and her U-lock still secured to the rack.

The value of the purple Motiv mountain bicycle was unknown.


A bicycle was taken Monday from Modern Languages, 1423 E. University Blvd.

A male student secured his bicycle to a rack on the west side of the building at 8 a.m. with a chain lock.

When the student returned at 9 a.m., the bicycle and lock were gone.

The Tan Kona mountain bicycle was valued at $2,500 and the lock at $20.

A second bicycle was stolen Monday from outside the Communications building, 1103 E. North Campus Drive.

A male student locked his bicycle to a rack on the east side of the building at 8:50 a.m. He used a chain lock.

When the student returned at 9:50 a.m., the bicycle and lock were gone.

The black Cannondale mountain bicycle was valued at $700 and the lock at $25.
