Family Weekend's success reflects university's positive strides

Editor:

Having just returned to Colorado from this weekend in Tucson where my family and I participated in the University of Arizona's Family Weekend, I wanted to write to the citizens of Tucson to express my heartfelt "thank you" to the university community and to President Manuel Pacheco for a job well done. I am not only complimenting the events of this past weekend, but also what I and other parents have seen the UA accomplish on behalf of undergraduate students and teaching at the UA. As chair of the Parents' Association, I had the pleasure of presenting Dr. Pacheco with a plaque inscribed as follows: Presented to Dr. Manuel Pacheco for his continuous effort and outstanding support of undergraduate education. The Parent's Association 1991-1996.

We are truly grateful that the university has made strides to enhance undergraduate education by its development of a new CORE curriculum, the new Faculty Development Partnership for teaching, and by the renovation of many of the classrooms where our children are taught. I know that many parents are as excited as I am about the University of Arizona.
