- The Center for Computing and Information Technology is offering a free workshop on how to use QuickSearch in the Science and Engineering Library from 4 until 5:30 p.m.
QuickSearch is a do-it-yourself computer retrieval system accessing millions of references in over 400 subject databases. The purpose of the service is to allow UA students and faculty the opportunity to do their own computer literature search without personal cost.
- Steward Observatory Public Evenings presents Jill Bechtold, of the UA, speaking on "Protogalaxies" in the fourth lecture of the Big Bang lecture series at the Steward Observatory Auditorium, Room N210 at 7:30 p.m.
Bechtold was on the team of astronomers who announced the discovery of the most luminous and possibly the youngest galaxy ever observed.
After the hour-long lecture there will be a question and answer period. If the weather permits those in attendance are invited to view the night sky through telescopes at Steward Observatory's campus station, aided by members of the UA Astronomy Club.
- The Memorial Student Union's Gallagher Theatre is showing "The Island of Dr. Moreau" at 7:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Admission is $2.50.
Fact of the Day
The largest stadium in the world is the open Strahov stadium in Prague, Czech Republic. The stadium was completed in 1934 and can accommodate 240,000 spectators.
