University police responded Thursday to reports of five men with fire extinguishers on East First Street near North Campbell Avenue.

When police arrived at 10:44 p.m., they saw a U-haul truck parked at First Street and North Martin Avenue. Two men ran away from the truck as police approached.

"Oh shit, the cops," they yelled as they ran.

Police caught Joshua W. Farra, 18, of La Paz Residence Hall, 602 N. Highland Ave., and James A. Beauchamp, 19, of the 1000 block of North Park Avenue after they ran south.

Farra told police he ran "because I thought I was being chased," according to police reports.

Farra and Beauchamp told police they were Pi Kappa Alpha pledges and that they had rented the U-haul truck for "walk out."

They told police they did not know who had the fire extinguishers, but thought they were going to trash the "pike" house.

Both men admitted to drinking one beer and were cited for minor having consumed alcohol.

In the back of the U-haul truck, police found three men and a considerable amount of "smoke." The smoke was coming from the fire extinguishers.

There were three fire extinguishers in the truck which, the men said, they had found in the alley behind the Sigma Chi fraternity house. A fourth fire extinguisher was found in a dumpster behind Sigma Chi.

Police took the extinguishers and returned them to Fire Safety.

Several fire extinguishers had been reported missing from Modern Languages that afternoon. Police reports stated these could be the same extinguishers.

No citations were issued to the men in the truck.

A Tucson man reported his motorcycle vandalized after an argument with members of the Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

The man told police he parked his motorcycle in Lot 3046 at East First Street and North Highland Avenue at 10 a.m. The man was going to the Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity house to collect money for T-shirts he had printed.

While he was in the house, he was told to sit at a table and not wander the common areas.

The members paid the man $302 , leaving him $573.46 short and an argument ensued.

The man told police one of the members said, "I'm going to break every bone in your face."

When the man returned to his motorcycle at 11:30 a.m., he found his back seat cut open. The man told police that he thinks a member of Phi Kappa Alpha damaged the seat.

The man was referred to Greek Life to file a complaint against the group.

Two wallets were taken in two days from the Memorial Student Union computer lab, 1303 E. University Blvd.

On Wednesday, a female student put her wallet on the desk next to the computer she was using at 4 p.m.

The student worked at the station until 6 p.m., when she noticed her wallet missing. She told police several people had come in and out of the lab while she was working.

A male student working in the lab Thursday reported a similar incident.

The student told police he had his wallet in his backpack on the desk near the computer on which he was working. At 12:10 p.m., the student left his station briefly. When he returned he found his wallet had been removed from his backpack.

The student told police there were several people who could have taken his wallet.

A bicycle was stolen Thursday from outside the Music building, 1017 N. Olive Road.

A male student locked his bicycle to a rack north of the building at 8 a.m. He secured the bicycle frame and front tire to the rack with a U-lock.

At 10:30 a.m., the student returned to find his front tire and U-lock still attached to the rack. The frame was cut to remove the rest of the bicycle.

The maroon Research Dynamics bicycle was valued at $600.
