If there was ever any doubt that the youth of the Arizona Icecats would show against a more experienced Colorado team, it has been put to rest.

And if there were ever any questions about the ability of freshman goaltender Beau LeMire, they were answered in the Icecats' 10-0 win over the Buffaloes Saturday night, completing a weekend sweep.

The Icecats (4-0) also won 6-1 Friday night in front of 8,600 at the Tucson Convention Center.

LeMire and the Arizona defense allowed Colorado to take only 22 shots on goal. The Icecats had 47.

LeMire said he finally feels he has been tested in the net.

"My nerves are under control," LeMire said. "I'm getting used to it. The crowd is insane and there's so much excitement."

Icecat coach Leo Golembiewski said the play of his team key.

"Our solid performance and intensity level were good," he said. "We had a good, solid weekend."

LeMire's performance in the net gave Golembiewski little to be concerned about.

"He's only allowed two goals in four games," Golembiewski said. "He's solid in the net and did a good job."

Senior Peter Scott, who scored two of the Icecats' 10 goals and had one assist, said he was more impressed with the team's defense.

"When we let a team like Colorado only score one goal in 120 minutes, that's something that I'm more proud of than how many goals we scored," he said. "It's good to look down the bench and know that you've got some guys that can step up when we need it."

Scott said the Icecats showed a solid team effort.

"It wasn't like we had one guy score six goals," he said. "The scoring was spread out all across the line."

The youth of the Icecats' three lines was not a problem, with six of the 10 goals scored by underclassmen. Still, the experience of the older players was obvious as well, as three of the four seniors scored four of the goals.

"This was the second night in a row we took it to them," Golembiewski said. "The story of the weekend is our speed and mobility as opposed to their size."
