- Pima Community College teacher Menelik Bakari speaks about "Cultural Diversity: Past, Present, Future Changes" in the Student Union's Tucson Room at noon. The lecture is part of the Brown Bag Series on cultural diversity among UA Business and Professional Women. Everyone is welcome, and there is no charge for BPW members. Non-members are charged $2 at the door.
- An Off-Campus Cats Barbecue is on the Mall at 5 p.m. It is an opportunity to meet new people, and information on campus involvement is being provided. The barbecue is open to all students.
- Borderlands Theater presents "Five Women Wearing the Same Dress," a comedy about five reluctant bridesmaids hiding out in an upstairs bedroom, each with her own reason to avoid the reception below. The play runs at PCC Black Box Theatre at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the door and cost $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $6 for students. The theater is located at 2202 W. Anklam Road and can be accessed by taking the St. Mary's exit west off Interstate 10.
- Students for the Exploration and Development of Space has its kickoff meeting of the year at 7 p.m. in Space Sciences Room 308. Physics Professor Li-Zhi Fang speaks about "A Crisis in Cosmology," and all are welcome to attend. Space Sciences is directly east of Flandrau Planetarium.
- The Asian American Cultural Association has a meeting in the Harvill Building, Room 411 at 5:30 p.m.
- The Catholic Newman Center holds the Welcome Mass and Barbecue, an annual event that includes music, volleyball, and opportunities to meet new people. The barbecue is at 6:30 p.m. The Newman Center is located at 1615 E. 2nd St.
- " The Truth About Cats and Dogs" shows at Gallagher Theatre at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Admission is $2.50.
- Two Internet workshops are running today: QuickSearch is from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Science-Engineering Library Room 311, and Create Your Own Homepage is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., also in SEL Room 311. QuickSearch is a do-it-yourself computer retrieval system accessing millions of references in over 400 subject databases. Create Your Own Homepage teaches how to use Hypertext Mark Up Language (HTML) to create a World Wide Web home page.
- The Memorial Student Union holds Blue Light Special Day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- A Volunteer Fair is on the UA Mall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- The Center for Service Learning, located in Student Union Room 353, holds an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
- A New Traditional Students Open House is in Student Union, Room 353 from noon to 2 p.m.
- Alpha Kappa Psi has its first meeting of the year in McClelland Hall, Room 131, at 7 p.m.
