A room was vandalized Wednesday in Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St.

A female resident told university police she left her room at 3 p.m. and her roommate left at 4:30 p.m. They locked the front and bathroom doors.

At 5:50 p.m., the residents returned to the room and found pieces of glass, beer cans, picture frames and pins scattered around the room. Four or five compact discs were taken from the room.

The residents told police a neighbor in an adjacent room told them she heard noise coming from the room, but was unable to enter the room because of the locked bathroom door.

Police were unable to find fingerprints at the scene.

The compact discs were valued at $60.


Check fraud was reported Tuesday at McClelland Hall, 1930 E. Helen St.

A female employee told university police that a check stolen from the Lead Program in Business, a summer program, was used at a gas station in Benson. The check was written for $21.

The employee told police three checks were taken from the program Aug. 19.

The employee said her office, where the checks were kept, is in a high-traffic area used by both graduate and undergraduate students.


Two students were cited for trespassing Tuesday at Arizona Stadium, 540 N. Vine Ave.

The students, Daniel S. Barbier, 18, a resident of La Paz Residence Hall, 610 N. Highland Ave.; and Kyle E. Koelbel, 18, a resident of Apache-Santa Cruz Residence Hall, 1420 E. Fifth St., were seen climbing the north fence of the stadium at 11:36 p.m.

Police found the two students hiding in a stadium restroom.

One of the students told police they were "taking a short cut and having some fun."

Barbier and Koelbel were cited for trespassing and released at the scene.


A Tucson man was cited Tuesday for driving under the influence of alcohol after he drove down the middle of East Ninth Street, police reports said.

Police saw David S. Preece, 39, of the 3000 block of East 25th Street driving his 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck east on Ninth Street at 1:01 a.m.

Preece then drove north on North Cherry Avenue and was stopped on East Broadway Boulevard after he made a left turn without signaling, according to police reports.

Police reports stated that when officers approached the window of the truck, they smelled a strong odor of alcohol. Preece's eyes were red, watery and bloodshot, according to police reports.

Preece failed field sobriety tests and was taken to police headquarters.

He was cited for DUI and released to a family member.


A bicycle was stolen from outside the UA Poetry Center, 1216 N. Cherry Ave.

A female employee said the bicycle was secured with a cable lock outside the center Tuesday at 5 p.m. When the employee returned to the center Wednesday at 8 a.m., the bicycle gone and the lock was cut and left lying on the ground.

The value of the Cruiser bicycle was not listed in police reports. The bicycle belongs to the center.


A backpack was taken Wednesday from the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd.

A male student left his backpack on a fourth floor table at 4:30 p.m. while he used the restroom. When the student returned at 4:45 p.m. the bag was gone.

The backpack contained a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses, checks and a Texas Instruments calculator valued at $50.


A parking permit was taken Tuesday from a car parked in Lot 2029 at East Mabel Street and North Martin Avenue.

A male employee said he parked his 1994 Ford Thunderbird in the lot at 3:30 p.m. When he returned at 5:05 p.m., the permit was gone.

There were no signs of forced entry. The male told police he thought he had locked his car.

The Zone 1 parking permit was valued at $160.
