UA sophomore Amy Skieresz does not just win cross country meets, she dominates them.Skieresz left the competition in the dust Saturday en route to repeating as the District VIII champion and helping the women's team qualify for the NCAA Championships.
With a time of 16 minutes, 13 seconds, Skieresz was 47 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Emebet Gutliat of Southern Cal. Skieresz has not lost a race this season and will be a heavy favorite at the NCAA Championship meet, which will be held in Tucson next Monday. The last time Skieresz did not win a meet was last year at the NCAA Championships, where she was runner-up.
The women were able to place four runners in the top 15, good enough for second place and an automatic qualification for nationals. Stanford won the meet on the women's side with a 51 points. Arizona earned 69 points during the 3.1-mile race, held in Fresno, Calif.
Sophomore Emily Nay took ninth with a time of 17:22. Freshman Kristen Parrish, who was just a shade behind Nay, also had a time of 17:22 and placed 10th. Junior Virginia Camacho finished in 11th place with a time of 17:31.
Other women finishers were junior Tone Bratteng, who was 44th with a time of 18:15; senior Susan Scott, 50th, 18:23; and junior Kelly Chavez, 89th, 19:00.

The men's team scored 181 points, good for sixth place. Stanford was the men's champion with 31.
