Four deposit bags were reported stolen Sunday from a safe in the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd.

The bags were discovered missing at 10:20 a.m. when the office assistant who balances the deposits arrived for work, a library administrative assistant told university police. The administrative assistant told police she and the office assistant are the only employees with keys to the safe.

A female student employee told police she put the last deposit bag in the safe Friday at 6 p.m. She told police the safe was nearly full, but she was able to get the bag in.

The safe is made from a "heavy steel" and has a small rectangular slot for deposits, police reports stated. The slot has metal teeth on it that are pointed inward to prevent the deposits from being removed. The safe is bolted to the floor.

Police were unable to obtain any fingerprints and found no sign of forced entry.

The deposit bags themselves were valued at $30 each. Altogether, the bags contained $4,621 in cash.

The case remains under investigation.

A noisy party Saturday resulted in a disorderly conduct charge at the Kappa Alpha fraternity house, 906 N. First Ave.

University police arrived at the house at 2:50 a.m. after a Tucson woman complained about the noise. It was her second compliant of the night.

When police went to the house, they heard loud music, saw 20 people on the rear patio of the house and heard several screams.

Police had already been at the house after the woman's first complaint and asked the president, Matthew D. Lawson, 21, to shut down the party.

After the second visit by police, Lawson was cited for disorderly conduct and released at the scene.

A man was arrested on a warrant Sunday after university police saw him riding his bicycle on the sidewalk east of Bio Sciences West, 1040 E. Fifth St.

A university police officer on bicycle patrol at 10:08 p.m. saw Michael E. Kinnamon, 37, of a general delivery address, riding his bicycle in a no-bicycling zone near the building. Kinnamon also did not have a headlight on his bike.

Kinnamon rode south, continuing onto the sidewalk south of the building.

When the officer stopped Kinnamon to issue a warning for the bicycle violations, a computer check showed Kinnamon was wanted by the Arizona Department of Corrections for a felony parole violation stemming from an attempted burglary.

Kinnamon was taken to the Wilmot Prison Facility. Police took his bicycle and belongings for safekeeping.

On Monday at 4 p.m., the student found his bicycle in a Dumpster east of the hall. The bicycle's wheel rims were bent and several items were missing.

The bicycle's reflectors, seat, handlebar grips and U-lock were missing. All of these items had a total value at $10.

A barbecue grill was taken Saturday from the UA Mall.

A Tucson man told police that the grill was one of several a local restaurant used during Homecoming festivities.

At 2:45 p.m., a restaurant employee packed up for the day, but the grill did not fit in a truck, the man told police. The employee returned at 3 p.m. and discovered the grill gone, police reports stated.

The man told police he asked people nearby if they had seen anyone leave with the grill, but no one had.

The Big John Barbeque Grill was valued at $500.

Annoying phone calls were reported Monday at Kaibab-Huachuca Residence Hall, 922 E. Fourth St.

A male student told university police he and his roommate had received 30 calls since Oct. 30. He told police the caller never says anything, just stays on the line for "several minutes" before hanging up.

The student said he had traced six of the calls, but did not suspect anyone. He said he was not interested in pressing charges.
