Support ASU at Rose Bowl

Editor:

With the football game this Saturday, we must take time and put things in perspective. Our cross-state rivals are coming to town in the biggest game of the season. But that is all Arizona State University is, our rivals. They are not the "Great Satan of the North," as written by Mr. Zaft ("Team showed fight of Wildcats at Saturday's game," Nov. 19, letter to the editor). They are not to be hated by all in Tucson.

Our Wildcat football team will play this weekend with all of their heart and determination in an effort to upset the Sun Devils. We should applaud them for the effort they put forth. The fans should cheer for their Wildcats. Should such an upset occur, it would give great meaning to a disappointing season.

But what if we lose? Our season is over, and nothing is left to look forward to. Or is there? ASU will have a chance to do something that no other football team from Arizona has had the chance to do, play for the national title.

It all boils down to who you hate more, our rivals, and neighbors to the north, or perennial contenders like Florida, Florida State and Nebraska.

On New Year's Day, when ASU plays Ohio State in the Rose Bowl, give your support to the Sun Devils as they play for the national title, and attempt to bring glory to the PAC-10 conference and the state of Arizona.
