The Graduate Christian Fellowship and Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship are sponsoring a "Cans Around Old Main" food drive in hopes of providing food for Tucson's hungry population for the holidays.Tom Zigler, pharmacology/toxicology doctoral candidate, said the organizations are getting involved because of their desire to serve the community.
"Unfortunately, a lot of people don't have the food they need," Zigler said. "This is a nice way to show that the UA supports the needs of the community."
Both groups are attempting to collect enough cans to circle Old Main. The cans collected by the two organizations will be forwarded to the Arizona Community Food Bank.
All food must be canned and may be donated at the west end of Old Main today through tomorrow afternoon.
