Donor has right to set own scholarship requirements

Editor:

I may be really confused here, but I seem to miss the reason why everyone is upset at Sally Keith's scholarship that she is offering. Is it not her money that she is giving away? Does she not have the right to give the money to anyone that she deems worthy?

It is my very humble opinion that Ms. Keith can give her scholarship to anyone as long as they follow her guidelines. I do not see where this "unfairness" abounds. If you don't qualify for the scholarship, don't apply for it...it's that easy. I don't qualify, and you don't see me complaining.

If Ms. Keith shouldn't discriminate against women with children, should all of her qualifications be erased? Should she be able to discriminate against women or men? How about race? Shoot, why doesn't she just let everyone on campus apply for it? In this case, why do ANY scholarships have qualifications? We should all apply for every scholarship. No more reservations.

Now, the only thing I need to do is find that Irish women with blonde hair whose fathers served in World War III scholarship application. I know it's around here somewhere...

Lighten up. It's her money, let her spend it how she likes.
