A male student was cited on a theft charge Thursday at the University Services Building, 888 N. Euclid Ave.

A Parking and Transportation Services officer found a car parked in Lot 4056 at East First Street and North Cherry Avenue, with a parking permit that had been reported stolen. The officer secured the car with an immobilizing boot.

University police arrived at Parking and Transportation Services' offices in the University Services Building at 2:08 p.m., after Paul J. Sarafin, 18, of the 1000 block of West Eureka Street, came to the office to get the boot removed.

Sarafin told police he had bought the permit in early October for $30. Sarafin said he had been unable to purchase a permit at the beginning of the year and had been placed on a long waiting list. He said he has used the permit to park a few days a week since he bought it.

Sarafin was cited for theft of services and released at the scene.

A man was cited on a criminal damage charge Thursday after he allegedly removed the parking arm from a gate in the Park Avenue Garage, 1140 N. Park Ave.

Two female students in the garage at 10:25 p.m. told university police they saw two men and one women walk through the garage and approach the west gate.

The students told police that when the group reached the gate, one of the men tore the gate arm off before walking east.

As police spoke with the two students, Cole K. Wilder, 22, of a general delivery address, walked by with the woman. The students identified Wilder as the vandal.

Wilder told police he and his friends were merely walking around the area. He denied breaking the arm.

Wilder was cited for criminal damage and released at the scene.

A Tucson man was cited on a trespassing charge Thursday after university police found him sleeping on a bench west of Arizona Stadium, 540 N. Vine Ave.

Police saw Fernando Mota-Sanchez, 42, of the 0-100 block of East Dakota Street, sleeping on the bench at 1:45 a.m. He had a shopping cart of cans with him.

Police recognized Mota-Sanchez because he had been previously warned for trespassing, reports stated.

Mota-Sanchez told he had been collecting cans and was resting. He was cited for criminal trespassing and released.

A drive shaft was reportedly removed Wednesday from a Jeep parked outside Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St.

A female student told university police she parked her Jeep Wrangler south of Coronado Tuesday at 3 p.m. She returned to the Jeep Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.

The student was unable to start the Jeep, she told police. She said she could move the gear shift, but the Jeep would not go.

The student told police she called her boyfriend, who identified the problem as a missing drive shaft. There was no other damage to the vehicle.

The Jeep had been towed to a local car dealer for service before the theft was reported.

Two students had an argument Wednesday in parking Lot 3039 at East Second Street and North Palm Road, university police reports stated.

A male student told police he was riding his motorcycle west through the lot at 2:53 p.m. when a white Nissan came from his right side and began driving into his lane before turning east.

The two argued over who had the right-of-way, the male student told police. The male student said he got off his motorcycle to get the Nissan's license plate number when the Nissan ran over his foot. The male student's foot was checked by the Tucson Fire Department and he was released at the scene.

On Thursday, police saw the Nissan in the lot. The female student told police that the motorcycle came "flying through" the lot in the middle of the lane. She said the male student bumped into her car with his motorcycle, then got off and hit her driver's side window with his hand.

The female student denied running over the male student. No citations were issued.
