Minnesota Twins designated hitter Paul Molitor, who last season became the 20th player in major league history to collect his 3,000th hit, will serve as the honorary manager for Arizona's annual All-Pro Alumni Game on Feb. 9.

The 40-year-old Molitor posted a career-high 225 hits last season, scoring 99 runs and driving in 113 while batting .341. His career average of .307 is third among all active players behind only Tony Gwynn and Wade Boggs. The future Hall-of-Famer is 14th on major-league baseball's all-time doubles list with 544.

Molitor, a seven-time all-star, was named the most valuable player of the 1993 World Series when his Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Philadelphia Phillies. He established a series record for hits in a single game when he collected five in game one of the 1982 series against St. Louis.

The 1997 All-Pro Alumni Game will be the 13th played between current Wildcats and former players (two have been rained out). A year ago, the Alumni team earned its third straight victory when Rich Lemons drove in Tony Bouie with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh and final inning. John Tejcek had the other three RBI for the Alumni, who were managed by Cleveland Indians skipper Mike Hargrove. The series is tied 6-6.
