A Tucson woman was arrested Tuesday on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol after university police stopped her vehicle on East Sixth Street just west of North Euclid Avenue.

Police reported seeing Cynthia L. Hornback, 27, of the 4000 block of North La Cholla Drive, make an illegal left turn from North Fremont Avenue onto Sixth Street.

Hornback then drove west on Sixth Street at 55 mph, police reports stated. The speed limit is 35 mph.

When police approached Hornback's vehicle, they smelled a strong odor of alcohol, police reports stated. Hornback told police she had been drinking earlier in the evening, the reports said.

As Hornback performed field sobriety tests, she complained of being cold. She said her husband had thrown up on her jacket earlier that evening. Police loaned her a jacket.

A Tucson Police Department officer arrived at the scene and administered a mobile breath test for alcohol. That test indicated Hornback's blood-alcohol concentration was .16.

Hornback was taken to university police headquarters, where she took several Intoxilyzer tests. Those tests showed blood-alcohol concentrations of .123, .096, .119 and .120.

Hornback was cited for DUI and DUI with a blood-alcohol concentration greater than .10. She was released from the police station.
