U of A: Today
- Today is the first day to file for the Grade Replacement Opportunity for the Spring 97 semester.
Late registration penalty of $50 begins today with a maximum late penalty of $100.
- The Library offers a free workshop "Create your own Homepage" in the Science and Engineering Library, Room 311 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
The workshop will explain how to use Hypertext MarkUp Language to create a World Wide Web homepage. Participants should have a familiarity with the Windows environment.
- In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday Sankofa, the UA's African-American Faculty-staff association, and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration committee host "The Dream Lives On: An Open House," of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Building, 1322 E. First Street from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. For more information call Ceci Lou at 621-3481.
There will also be a "Building Bridges: Rap Session," in the MLK Center to discuss O.J. Simpson's legal affairs, the Ebonicsissue, "gangsta rap" and the state of the black family from noon until 1 p.m.
- The University of Arizona Business and Professional Women present Vivian Rles, professional trainer to speak on "Self Confidence: It's all in your head" in the Memorial Student Union's Tucson Room at noon. No charge from BPW members; non-members must pay $2 at the door.
- The American Red Cross sponsors a blood drive on the UA Mall from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
- The Macintosh Users group meets at the University Medical Center, 1501 N. Campbell Ave., Room 5403 at 7 p.m. to discuss "How to Get Online with the TMUG BBS-Tucsonan's Macintosh alternative to expensive online services."
- The Memorial Student Union's Gallagher Theatre shows "That Thing You Do" at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Admission is $2.50.
Fact of the Day
A record breaking 512 students were enrolled in Winter Session this December, which is an increase of 112 students from last year.
