A telephone was reported missing Tuesday from the front desk of La Paz Residence Hall, 602 N. Highland Ave.

A female student told university police the phone was left under the desk at midnight when the desk closed. She also said the phone cord was left plugged into the wall.

When the student came back to the front desk at 4:30 a.m., she noticed the phone was missing.

The receiver and cover plate to the phone's memory section were found left on the floor behind the front desk, according to police reports. There were no signs of forced entry, the reports stated.

Another female student told police she received two prank phone calls that same night. She told police her phone number was programmed into the missing phone and is unlisted.

Police advised the second female to trace future prank calls.

The AT&T two-line memory telephone was valued at $100.


A bicycle and U-lock were reported stolen Tuesday from outside Manzanita-Mohave Residence Hall, 1000 N. Park Ave.

A male student told university police he locked his bike Dec. 18 to a parking post in the hall's south fenced courtyard. When he returned Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., he found it missing.

The dark blue Huffy Diablo Canyon bicycle was valued at $120. The U-lock was valued at $35.


A VCR was reported missing Monday from a room in Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St.

A female student told university police she left her VCR in her room when leaving for winter break Dec. 14. When she returned Monday at 11:51 p.m., the VCR was missing.

She told police the custodial staff were the only people that had access to the room, and she had not loaned the VCR to anyone. She also told police the main entrance and bathroom doors to the room were locked.

The Magnavox VCR was valued at $175.


A vending machine in a vending ramada at 1111 E. Lowell St. was burglarized Monday.

According to university police reports, the lock to the ramada's gate was removed and the vending machine was entered by removing the Plexiglas window. The vending machine dispenses "donuts, pies and popcorn," the police reports stated.

A UA Vending Services employee told police the ramada had been locked Monday at 3 p.m. The gate lock was replaced.

The amount of merchandise lost was unknown.


A window was reported vandalized Monday on the south side of the Radiation Control Offices, 1640 N. Vine Ave.

An employee in the Radiation Control Offices told university police that the vandalism was not present Friday. When she returned Saturday at 8:30 a.m., the window had been vandalized.

According to police reports, the window may have been "tagged."

The employee took two Polaroid shots of the window and gave them to police as evidence.


A number of items were reported missing Monday from the Sigma Nu fraternity house, 1402 N. Cherry Ave.

A male student told university police he last saw the items Dec. 18. When he returned Jan. 8, the items were missing.

According to police reports, the items may have been taken during a Jan. 8 burglary/assault incident at the fraternity house which had been previously reported to police.

The Tommy Hilfiger men's cologne, Motorola pager, Nautica watch and Bank of America check reported stolen were valued at a total of $300.


Vandalism was reported Monday in the women's locker room showers in McKale Center, 1721 E. Enke Drive.

A 3-foot crack was found in the outside wood panel. According to police reports, the impact was caused by "some blunt object."

The damage was estimated at $100.
