A male worker was injured after he fell off a ladder Wednesday at the Arizona Cancer Center construction site, 1515 N. Campbell Ave.

Another worker told university police he was working in the basement of the construction site when he saw the man descending a ladder from the second floor to the basement. The second worker told police he saw the man carrying a piece of cast iron in both hands as he descended the ladder.

According to police reports, when the second worker turned around, he saw the man had fallen off the ladder and landed on his head. The second worker told police the ladder appeared to slip left.

Other people in the area said the ladder was tied to a "flimsy" hand rail on the second floor, police reports stated.

A Department of Risk Management employee arrived and told police that the 300-pound maximum capacity of the ladder had been exceeded, reports stated.

The man apparently injured his left wrist and his head but the extent of the injuries was unknown.

The man was taken to UMC for treatment.

Police took several photos of the area and placed them into evidence.


A female student reported Tuesday that she has been receiving harassing phone calls at Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St.

The first call was received Monday at 6:01 a.m., police reports stated.

The student told university police that the Spanish-speaking caller told her he wanted her to "touch herself all over."

The student told police the man continued to attempt calls, but the student's answering machine was on and he hung up the phone.

The last call the student received was Tuesday at 2 a.m., police reports stated. The student would not tell police what the caller had said, but she told police it was "very obscene and gross."

The student was told to contact police if the caller calls again. She was advised by police to use *57 to trace the calls.


A female student reported some of her clothes missing Tuesday from the laundry room of Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St.

The student told university police she put her clothes into dryers at 5:30 p.m. When she returned at 6:10 p.m., she found her clothes missing, police reports stated.

The total value of the missing clothes was reported as $360.


A female student reported a purse and the items it contained missing from her room Tuesday at Babcock Inn, 1717 E. Speedway Blvd.

The student told university police she left her room around 6:53 p.m. to escort a friend to another room in the hall. When she returned "a couple of minutes later," the student found her door halfway open and her purse missing.

The black leather "Rossetti" purse was valued at $40. The purse contained an Arizona driver's license, social security card and birth certificate, all of unknown value. It also contained $90 cash.


A female student reported her backpack and items it contained missing Tuesday from Room 225F of McKale Center, 1721 E. Enke Drive.

The student told university police she left her backpack in the room at about 9:40 p.m. to go to another room to study. When she returned at 10:05 p.m., the backpack was gone.

The value of the Eastpack backpack, Cambridge daytimer, Coach wallet, Arizona driver's license, Arizona Federal Credit Union card, Texaco card, Macy's credit card, car keys and residence hall keys was unknown.


A UA employee reported Wednesday that a dry marker chalkboard was vandalized in Room 303 of the Harvill Building, 1103 E. Second St.

The employee told university police the board had been painted sometime before Monday with what appeared to be a water-colored-based paint.

The value of the board was about $400.

Facilities Management was contacted and will attempt to clean the board, police reports stated.
