Women earn split after topping Ducks

The women's baketball team got the road victory they were after, defeating Oregon 60-57 in Eugene on Saturday.

The Wildcats (14-4, 4-3 in the Pacific 10 Conference) went on a 10-2 run during the second half to build a 10-point lead with just under eight minutes to play. Freshman Felecity Willis made both ends of a one-and-one to put Arizona up by three with 22 seconds to go.

UA's Monika Crank tied her career high with 14 points, Adia Barnes claimed her 11th double-double of the season with 11 rebounds and 12 points.

It was Oregon's (12-4, 5-2) first home loss of the season (8-1) and only the fourth loss for the Ducks in the last 27 games at McArthur Court. Arizona's post defense was the difference. Oregon's second leading scorer, 6-foot-3 center Renae Fegent (13 points per game), was held to only seven points and five rebounds. Arizona committed only 15 turnovers to the Duck's 19.

Arizona is tied with Washington for fourth place in the conference. The Wildcats will face the Huskies on Thursday at 7 p.m. at McKale Center.
