UA men's volleyball opens play in Iowa

The men's club volleyball team might not know where it stands right now, but it will get a good idea after this weekend.

The Wildcats (0-0) open their season against Graceland College tonight in Lamoni, Iowa in a best-of- five match. They will then travel to Ames, Iowa Saturday for the Cyclone Invitational at Iowa State University.

Arizona, which is ranked 17th based on its finish from last season, will play each member of its six team pool, and can advance to the championship bracket if it finishes among the top three.

UA assistant coach Skip Greenburgh said the Wildcats should challenge for the title.

However, head coach Corey Morishita introduced a new blocking scheme and offense during the winter.

"Right now it's still new, but in the end it will have huge benefits for us," said Greenburgh of his 10 man traveling team. "We're kind of going in unknowingly, though."
