Arizona Daily Wildcat February 19, 1998 SidelinesThe Arizona men's golf team is in Honolulu this week participating in the 22nd-annual John Burns Intercollegiate. The tournament, which began yesterday and concludes Friday, is being held at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course, located on the grounds of the Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station.The Wildcats hope to improve on their second place finish at the PING Arizona Intercollegiate held earlier this month. They will have to battle defending champion Oklahoma State to have a chance of coming out on top. Due to the time difference between Tucson and Honolulu, results for the tournament will be delayed. Look for the first round results in Friday's edition of the Daily Wildcat.. Tonight's women's basketball game against Oregon State is "Take a Kid to the Game" night. The promotion is part of a nationwide program which helps celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Children age 18 and under get into the game for free and the first 500 fans through the door receive a free team photo. The Wildcats will also be available after the game for an autograph session.
BrieflyOn Sunday night, the UA women's basketball team hosted its fifth-annual auction and dinner sponsored by Raytheon Missile Systems Company. According to program coordinator Stephanie Rempe, the event, which was held on the floor of McKale Center, raised close to $30,000 for the women's basketball team. Sixteen restaurants donated food and drinks for the evening's dinner. Several other Tucson businesses donated the items that were auctioned off. The highlight of the evening was the guest speaker, Ann Meyers, a former UCLA Hall of Famer and current color analyst for the WNBA for NBC.
