Police Beat

An Arizona State University student was arrested on various charges early Sunday when he apparently stayed behind to do lipstick graffiti after a mob raided the Alpha Chi Omega sorority house, 1775 E. First St.

A sorority member called police about 2 a.m. after a mob of 15 men came to the front door, then pounded and rang the doorbell before storming the house, police reports stated.

When police arrived soon after, the mob was gone, so officers left.

Sorority members called police again at 2:39 a.m. because some of the pranksters had returned and one of them was still in the house, police reports stated.

This time, police found Nikolaus Mikroulis, 20, of Tempe, in the hallway near the front door, reports stated.

Mikroulis told police that a girl he knows let him in.

The house president told police that none of the members let Mikroulis inside, and that he had reportedly written "911 SAE" and "Go to hell" on their door with lipstick, reports stated.

Mikroulis told police he was a member of ASU's Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and was in town for a leadership conference.

Police noticed an odor of alcohol on Mikroulis' breath, and his identification stated he was underage, reports stated.

Mikroulis was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail on charges of criminal trespassing, minor consuming liquor and criminal damage.

A Parking and Transportation Services employee called university police Sunday after discovering a vehicle that had been immobilized with a "boot" was missing from Lot 5072, south of Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St.

The boot was put on a 1989 Chevy Celebrity at 10:20 a.m. Thursday because it had no permit and excessive parking citations, police reports stated.

The employee told police she last saw the boot on the car at 7:51 p.m. Friday, and noticed the car and boot missing at 3:20 p.m. Sunday, police reports stated.

Police located the driver of the vehicle, a UA student who said he did not have any outstanding tickets. He told officers he would not have been able to drive to a friend's apartment Saturday if there had been a boot on his vehicle, reports stated.

Police were unable to locate the student's car to see if there were any signs that the boot had been taken off.

A UA Facilities Management employee Friday reported finding a cache of fraternity items - some reported stolen over the last six months - in the patio area of the Memorial Student Union, 1303 E. University Blvd.

Items ranging from composite photographs and plaques to trophies and paddles belonging to various UA fraternity houses, were found about 7:20 a.m. in the area outside the Fiddlee Fig restaurant, police reports stated.

The loot was left behind with a typed note signed by "Wacky Earl," reports stated.

Friday had been declared "amnesty day" by Greek Life officials, a day on which people could return items taken from other fraternity houses without fear of penalty, reports stated.

According to reports, some of the found booty was related to past theft cases and would not have been covered by the amnesty exemption.

A student reported receiving obscene messages on her voice mail Friday from a man she said she believes is expressing his guilty conscience to the wrong party.

The student told university police she got about 10 messages on her pager and voice mail last week from a man saying, "I'm having an affair with your wife," while also using obscene language to describe nasty details of the liaison.

The student said the statements are directed toward a man and it is obvious that the caller is unaware he is leaving the messages on a woman's voice mail, police reports stated.

The woman told police that she plans to get her pager number changed and she reported the incident because she is tired of getting the messages.

Police Beat is compiled from official University of Arizona Police Department reports.
