Arizona Daily Wildcat March 2, 1998 Bicyclist killed in hit-and-runA 45-year-old Tucson man was killed Friday night when a car struck his bicycle at North Euclid Avenue and East University Boulevard and then fled the scene, police said. The bicyclist was riding eastbound on University Boulevard through a red light when the car hit him at 8:45 p.m., said Tucson police traffic Detective Marty Fuentes. Fuentes said medics tried unsuccessfully to revive the man, who wasn't breathing and had no heartbeat after the collision. He was pronounced dead at University Medical Center. Fuentes said laboratory analysts will examine the man's bicycle because of witness' differing accounts about the color of the fleeing car. Police yesterday did not know if the man had been wearing a helmet. Police withheld the man's name yesterday pending notification of his next of kin.
