Job descriptions

Senators

• Shall approve an Elections Code to govern all conduct during ASUA elections.

• Can create any Senate Committee deemed necessary and the Executive VP can appoint members to temporary committees.

• Propose and consider all legislation including Senate policies and appropriations.

• Are responsible for approving a balanced operating budget.

• Establish and monitor official ASUA programs, services, committees, projects and task forces.

• Approve all ASUA appointments.

The president

• Serves as Chief Executive and Financial Officer of the Associated Students.

• Appoints Supreme Court Justices, ASUA Treasurer Elections Commissioner, Arizona Associated Students board members, the University Budget Review Committee Director, Academic Affairs Director, Federal Relations Director and any other groups subject to the ASUA constitution.

• Is responsible for submitting a balanced operating budget and ensuring ASUA funds are spent in accordance to the UA and Arizona Board of Regents policy.

• Must attend all Arizona Board of Regents meetings.

• Can veto any legislation passed by the Senate.

The executive vice president

• Presides over and is the chief spokesperson for the Senate.

• Acts on the president's behalf in the event of his/her absence.

• Coordinates the ASUA club funding process.

• Appoints the Appropriations Board, which gives funding to clubs and organizations.

• Coordinates club recognition and organizes annual club assembly.

• Is expected to "unify and serve students involved in clubs and organizations by advocating for needs and concerns of clubs -"

The administrative vice president

• Has the power to initiate new programs and services.

• Appoints the directors of all ASUA programs, services and activities.

• Aids the president in carrying out his/her duties.
