Arizona Daily Wildcat March 5, 1998 Rugby team ready for showdown in Tempe
The Arizona rugby club team is back in action Saturday at 2 p.m. as it makes the trip up north to take on in-state rival, Arizona State. "Regardless of everything else, we never discount an opportunity to play ASU," UA head coach Dave Sitton said. The Wildcats (8-3, 3-2) have won four games in a row including a sweep of UCLA and Long Beach State last weekend. Fullback Chris Kron scored three trys and three penalty goals for UA. The Wildcats have already seen what ASU has to offer as they faced the team in the Domino's Invitational held in Tucson. UA defeated the Sun Devils 35-12 Jan. 31. UA, who leads the all-time series 33-12-1, is looking for its ninth-straight victory against its rivals. "Our philosophy is steeped in fundamentals and we believe that if our game plan is executed properly we don't have to try to trick them," Sitton said. "We have finally gotten ourselves in a groove and we proved that last Sunday when everybody came out and played their hardest," he said. "As a coach that is all you can ask for and I am proud of them."
