By Nathan Kappler Elections annoying, meaninglessTo the Editor: Well, the most annoying day of the year on campus is finally over. I'm talking about that annoying day when people hand you tracts and ask you to commit yourself to their cause. No, I'm not speaking about mall preachers; I can at least tolerate those kind of souls. No, I'm talking about the ridiculous solicitations of ASUA candidates who believe they are so important that we should waste time voting for them. "Have you voted yet today?" ask the eager candidates. They want to hand me paper garbage that explains nothing at all. I run the other way. "Hell no! I'm not voting" I pleasantly suggest. What does the thoughtful person have to vote for anyway? The ASUA has not had an effect on my life as a student at the UA at all. I could care less who ooccupies their ranks because they don't have any real power over the administration or the lives of the student body. The first and last time I've ever seen these candidates and incumbents is election week. They don't care about me or represent me but they tell me it's my democratic duty to vote for one of them during the ASUA election. The ASUA election is finally over. The winners can now enhance their résumés and become part of the season ticket holder elite. Now, maybe we all can have some peace and quiet on the Mall and listen to reasonable solicitation from the mall preachers. Nathan Kappler
