By James Healey Bagel switch angers readerTo the Editor: You decide. Does this college and its management team, overloaded with clowns, really care for the students, as they keep telling us, or don't they? The "A" Bagel Express in the Student Union switched its bagel supplier on Monday [Mar. 1]. Wow, you mean they finally reacted to all the complaints about their old bagels? Well, no, not exactly, it seems as though no one had complained. No way, you mean they actually determined that the students deserved a wider bagel selection and more filling bagels? Gee, how thoughtful. Erm, no sorry, the selection hasn't widened and now the bagels are significantly less filling. Well OK, so after months of management meetings it was decided, for the good of the students, of course, that the new supplier was superior, right? What management, gold stars all round! Well, maybe, but for those of you who ordered the pesto bagel, it actually turns out that the supplier doesn't make pesto bagels, contrary to the price list in the restaurant. You, mean the SU actually hired a new supplier without even checking out what they supply??! OK, OK, so there have been some major screw-ups, but at least the poorer quality means lower prices for the starving students. Ah, how nice, those guys you called incompetent really do care about us. Erm, well actually, that is where the wackiness really kicks into overdrive: in fact the prices have gone up!! So now it is time for you to decide. Does this university's select management team of buffoons really care for their students as we keep hearing, or don't they? James Healey
