Sidelines

Arizona's men's tennis team is riding a four game home winning streak. They will attempt to add a few more as they battle No. 10 Southern Cal and No. 2 UCLA this weekend at the Robson Tennis Center.

"The guys are very fired up for these dual matches this weekend. Our previous matches with these guys were very competitive," UA assistant coach Bob Helmig said.

The Trojans glide into town with a 10-2 overall record and a 3-1 Pac-10 mark, while the Bruins stand at 9-3 and also possess a 3-1 conference record.

"We definitely have a home advantage with the high altitude and the fast courts," UA head coach Bill Wright said.

On a West Coast road trip earlier this season, the Wildcats managed only one triumph in fourteen individual matches against the Bruins and Trojans.

Arizona, 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the Pac-10, hosts Southern Cal on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and the Bruins on Saturday at noon.

"It's nice for women's tennis to get exposure, because we definitely need it," said senior Vicky Maes, team captain.

Fox Sports West 2 plans to televise the Arizona-Southern Cal showdown locally at 11 a.m. Saturday.

By the Numbers

1,009:

The number of points All-America sophomore guard Mike Bibby has tallied in his two-year career at Arizona, including the 19 points he scored in last night's win over Nicholls State. Bibby, who is rumored to be turning pro at the end of this season, becomes only the 26th UA men's player to accumulate at least 1,000 points.
