Briefly

The Arizona volleyball team is hosting the Wildcat Invitational at McKale Center starting tomorrow. Other teams competing with the Wildcats are the University of San Francisco, New Mexico State, and University of Nevada at Las Vegas. Matches are all day Friday and Saturday. Sunday night at 5 the Wildcats take on the Australia national team.

By the Numbers

250,000:

Amount in dollars that the UA athletic department paid the University of Alabama at Birmingham to come to Tucson for Saturday's non-conference football game. The price tag could have been lower had Arizona agreed to give the Blazers a return home football game, but that wasn't the case. This is not an unusual occurrence for large schools from powerful conferences (i.e. Pac-10, Big 10) because of the good chance of a victory. The smaller schools tend to accept because the money increases its athletic department budget and the school sets itself up for an upset.
