Frieder's Resignation Could Impact UA's Recruiting

From staff reports

Three Arizona men's basketball top recruits are expected to be in Tucson this weekend as the annual official campus visit portion of recruiting gets underway.

Richard Jefferson, a 6-foot-7 guard from Moon Valley High School in Phoenix, Travis Wilson (6-3, Moline H.S., Moline, Ill.) and Michael Wright (6-9, Farragut Academy, Chicago, Ill.) are scheduled to visit and take part in various activities including meals with the team and taking in the Arizona football game on Saturday night.

Arizona will have to make a strong pitch to Jefferson.

Moon Valley coach John Boie said that with the resignation of Bill Freider, Jefferson's attitude about staying home and becoming a Sun Devil may change.

"Depending on who the new coach is, that could throw them into the mix," Boie said.

Jefferson currently lists UCLA and Utah as his other favorites.

There could also be another hitch with Jefferson. Boie said that while he did pass his SAT, he sent the scores to the wrong school. Unless the scores get to the proper place on time, he will not be cleared to visit and will have to reschedule.

Under NCAA rules, players are allowed to make five official visits.
