UA baseball routs Antelopes again

The site may have changed, but the outcome did not.

For the second time this season the Arizona baseball team blew out Grand Canyon, this time by the score of 13-2 in Phoenix.

Arizona (28-18) had beaten Grand Canyon (21-17) last week in Tucson by the score of 17-0. Senior left fielder Jason Hendricks went 2 for 4 with his 13th home run of the season and four RBI to pace a balanced Wildcat attack. Right-hander Dave Abbott bounced back from a bad outing against UCLA on Sunday to pitch two scoreless innings of relief and improve his record to 4-2. The Antelopes' Corey Eazor (0-1) gave up eight runs on four walks and nine hits over 4 1/3 innings. Arizona jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, then expanded the lead to 12-1 in the top of the fifth. Grand Canyon's Jeremy Aikins gave up four walks that led to four Arizona runs in the big inning.

Senior first baseman Kenny Corley was 1 for 3 with two RBI and freshman shortstop Keoni DeRenne went hitless but did score three runs.

The two teams will meet once more this season in Tucson next Tuesday. It will be the Wildcats' final home game of the year.

Arizona will first host No. 1 ranked Stanford in a three game series starting Friday at 7 p.m.
