By John Brown Police BeatA 23-year-old Tucson man told police someone pulled a gun on him Tuesday night after he apparently upset a male driver in the parking lot south of Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St. The man told university police he was walking through the lot at 9:10 p.m. when the man, driving a black, late-model Chevy truck, asked him to walk over to the vehicle. The man told police that as he approached the truck, the driver pulled out a silver-plated .357 Magnum handgun and said he needed to walk faster when he crossed the street. The man walked away and the truck headed westbound on East Sixth Street. The man told police the assailant was a white man in his 20s with brown hair who looked and acted like a college student. A student couple called university police Tuesday after receiving several threatening e-mail messages from the woman's former boyfriend. The woman told university police she received six messages from her former partner Tuesday between 2:11 a.m. and 9:45 p.m. She told police she responded with a message telling him to stop, but he has continued to harass the couple. One of the messages dared the student's boyfriend to meet her old flame and his pals for a fight at a local middle school, police reports stated. "I'm pretty big now, weighing about 163 and benching close to Wade, about 260," one of the messages stated. The message also states that the man has heard the woman's boyfriend "is pretty skinny and tall, so don't try to get him to fight me," police reports stated. The male student also received a message from the ex-beau's friend, who stated that the message was from someone who is 6-foot-3-inches and 260 pounds, reports stated. The male student told police he didn't intend on duking it out with the man. A man and woman had their belongings stolen Wednesday morning while they took a swim at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center, 1827 E. Enke Drive. The woman told university police she left her cosmetics bag, which also contained a gold ring and watch, on the women's locker room floor about 6 a.m. When she returned about 45 minutes later, the bag with her five-stone ring, valued at $200, and Timex watch, valued at $40, was missing, police reports stated. The man, a university employee, told police he left his bag on the center's lobby floor about 5:30 a.m. and returned shortly before 7 a.m. to find it gone. The bag contained various clothing, including a blue and black nylon motorcycle jacket, valued at $175, and Adidas athletic shoes valued at $85, reports stated. The man told police an identification card was also taken but later found on the sidewalk near North Euclid Avenue. Neither person saw anyone in the area at the time of the theft. A student reported Wednesday that his bike was stolen last week outside of Manzanita- Mohave Residence Hall, 1000 N. Park Ave. The student told university police he secured his Trek mountain bike to a bike rack with a U-lock at 3 p.m. April 7, and found the bike missing the next day. The lock had been cut and was lying on the ground near the rack, police reports stated. The student told police he waited to report the theft because he had been sick and had exams, and that his father later advised him to call police for insurance reasons. The bike was valued at $1,000. A UA-owned electric bicycle was stolen Wednesday after its battery-operated alarm apparently failed to alert employees from its parking spot near the Arizona Stadium custodial offices, 540 N. Vine Ave. An employee told university police the black E.V. Warrior electric bicycle was taken from the stadium's west side between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The man told police the six-speed men's mountain bike was unlocked but that an alarm system was attached to its rear. He said the battery was charged on the alarm, but it evidently failed to sound. The bike was valued at $1,400. Police Beat is compiled from official University of Arizona Police Department reports.
