Police make second arrest in campus area homicide

Tucson police have arrested a second man in connection with an April 14 slaying at a campus-area apartment complex.

Tucson Police Department homicide detectives arrested DeShawn Scott, 18, of an unknown address, on suspicion of first-degree murder Monday evening and took him to the Pima County Jail, where he was in custody yesterday in lieu of $1 million bond, police said.

Friday, officers arrested Dennis James, 22, of Palo Alto, Calif., on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection with the killing.

Michael Locklin, 32, a California resident, was found murdered at 12:43 a.m. near the courtyard of Los Altos Apartments, 501 E. Glenn St., where witnesses told police about 15 people were seen running from the scene.

Police said yesterday the motive is not yet known, and the exact cause of death could not be divulged because detectives expect to make other arrests.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crime to call 88-CRIME. Callers can remain anonymous, and the calls are not recorded.
