Football schedule changed to reflect more high-profile program
Keeping in line with the effort to make Arizona a high-profile football program, UA athletic director Jim Livengood has arranged to modify the team's schedule for the 1998 season.
Arizona's first game, a road contest against Hawaii, was moved from Sept. 5 to Sept. 3, and the team's fourth game at San Diego State was moved from Sept. 26 to Sept. 24. Both games were moved from Saturdays to Thursdays and will both be televised by ESPN.
The third change was to move the season finale, a home game against Arizona State originally scheduled for Nov. 21, to the Friday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 27. That game will be broadcast on the Fox Sports Net.
"We really do appreciate the cooperation from Hawaii, San Diego State and the Pacific 10 Conference to help move some of these games around," Livengood said according to a press release sent out yesterday by the Arizona sports information department.
As it stands now, here is the road the Wildcats will have to travel as they search for their first Pac-10 championship ever.
