Pepsi pledges cash, wins UA market
Just the Facts
- After July 1, Pepsi is guaranteed 85 percent of the beverages available in Memorial Student Union retail outlets and Student Union satellite facilities, as well as income from beverage vending machines and beverage concessions at UA sporting events.
- The remaining 15 percent of shelf space can be given to as-yet undetermined Pepsi competitors. Coke, Kalil Bottling Co. and Pepsi currently split vending sales three ways.
- PepsiCo Inc. won the 10-year contract through its bid of $8.3 million in cash contributions, part of the $15.9 million total package value, which includes marketing and other in-kind support.
- Coca-Cola bid $5.7 million in cash contributions, with a$12.4 million total package value.
- Kalil Bottling Co. bid $3.8 million in cash contributions, bringing its total package value to $5 million.
