Interim international affairs head named

A changing of the guards at Arizona International College has left an opening on UA's main campus.

Kirk Simmons will replace Paul Rosenblatt as Interim Executive Director for International Affairs. Rosenblatt is AIC's new head.

"It is my pleasure to serve in this capacity," Simmons said.

He will assume the position July 1, and remain as acting head until an internal search selects a senior faculty member to fill the position permanently sometime in the fall.

Simmons has been with the international affairs program for seven years, having served as the director for the Center for International Students and Scholars for five years.

For the past two years, Simmons has acted as the Executive Associative Director for International Affairs under Rosenblatt.

"I have had an excellent mentorship under Rosenblatt and know that there are several qualified senior staff members interested in the position permanently," said Simmons.

Once a permanent replacement for Rosenblatt is found, Simmons will resume his position as the Executive Associative Director for International Affairs.
