University police cited a Tucson man on drug-related allegations last Wednesday, after stopping him for an unsafe lane change on North Campbell Avenue near East Second Street.

An officer driving north on Campbell Avenue near East Broadway watched a 1984

Chevy Corvette swerve into another lane without signaling at about 11:40 p.m., and then creep halfway back into the other lane for about a mile before stopping near Second Street, police reports stated.

As the Corvette pulled over, the officer noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the car and saw a woman in the passenger seat throw something from the open convertible top, reports stated.

The driver, identified as Edgar Taylor, 20, of the 1100 block of East 12th Street, told the officer he had been smoking marijuana, and there was a residue of suspected marijuana scattered about the car, reports stated.

Another officer found a marijuana cigarette close to the area where the woman made the throw.

Edgar did not appear to be physically impaired, reports stated. Police cited him on suspicion of marijuana possession and released him, but told him to let his passenger, who told police she hadn't been smoking, drive the Corvette away, reports stated.

A man and woman told university police early Sunday that the two men they saw running from the Main Gate Parking Garage may have been responsible for pulling a fire alarm in the structure at 815 E. Second St.

The pair told police, who arrived in response to a fire alarm, that they saw the two young men running from the third level of the garage at 1:08 a.m. and then drive away in a dark- colored vehicle, police reports stated.

Officers searched the structure and found that a third level fire alarm "pull station" had been activated, and noticed three empty fire extinguisher cases, each surrounded by broken glass. There were rocks near the damaged cases, and all three fire extinguishers were missing, reports stated.

The man and woman told police they heard a banging noise just before the alarm went off. Police found no suspects in the area.

A student called university police Sunday, after spotting a man hiding near a bookcase and possibly masturbating while watching a woman and her daughter in the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd.

The student told police he saw a man with long, brown hair wearing an orange tank top, orange shorts and "flip-flops," squatting at the end of a fourth-floor bookcase, and acting suspicious, police reports stated.

The student started to approach the man to ask him what he was doing and then noticed the man had his hand on his crotch and was staring at a woman and her daughter, reports stated.

The student told police he warned the woman and then told the man to stop whatever it was that he was doing. The man told him he was not doing anything, and then the student noticed a "bulge" in the front of the man's shorts as he stood up to leave, reports stated.

A search of the library revealed no suspects. The student told police he could identify the man if he saw him again and would help to make a composite sketch of the alleged offender, reports stated.

University police arrested a Tucson man on trespassing allegations Sunday after catching him using the showers at Bear Down Gym, 1428 E. University Blvd.

An officer spotted a man in the showers about 4 p.m. and asked him if he was a

UA student or staff member, police reports stated.

The man, identified as Alexander M. Rojas, 49, of 1500 E. 10th St., told police he had just finished working out and a professor he knew gave him permission to use the showers. When asked what course the professor taught, Rojas said, "I think history," and a check indicated Rojas had been arrested for criminal trespassing in May, reports stated.

Rojas told the officer he was arrested after showering at the Bear Down Gym, and that it was "stupid" for him to do it again, reports stated.

Rojas was cited on suspicion of second degree criminal trespassing and then released from the scene, reports stated.
