This Week..

Monday, August 10

Got nothing to do tonight? Try out Multimedia Monday tonight at Club Congress. The festivities will include the showing of the movies "Big Trouble in Little Tucson," "Mommie Queerest," "Plan 10 from Outer Space" and "Amazing Grace." There will also be music accompanied by the ever-popular swing dancing lessons and the voices of KFMA. Don't worry, you can also get drunk with specials on martinis and Finlandia vodka.

Friday, August 14

"The Aquabats are coming!" That's what the press release says anyway. Well, the band will be at the Rialto Theatre Friday and promises to be "armed with an arsenal of Cheez-Whiz cannons, several hundred pounds of powdered milk and under the spiritual guidance of the Magic Chicken." How could you possibly pass that up? Call the Rialto at 740-0126 for more information.

Saturday, August 15

Feel like dancing? Head down to the Mat Bevel Institute and check out The Club Rhythm Dance Jam, which promises an "alternative, all ages, smoke free" good time with music ranging from techno to blues. The whole thing gets started at 8 p.m. Saturday at 530 N. Stone Ave. Admission is $5 at the door. Call 721-1710 for more information.

Got Glass? Sure you do, but you need more so go to the Philabaum Contemporary Art Glass Gallery's Summer End Sale. The deals roll from this Saturday to the next and the place is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Discounts range from 15 percent to 20 percent so you better get there fast or you may not get anything. Call 884-7404 if you need any more information.

Monday, August 17

If you just want to watch other people dance, check out all the drunk people gathered at the Reel Big Fish show featuring River Fenix and Broken Pretzel, on the night of Monday, Aug. 17. The show starts at 8 p.m. at The Rock and tickets are $13 in advance, $15 day of show.

...and into tomorrow

It's a bit into the future, but by the time we print again, it'll be sold out so here's a reminder to buy your tickets now for the H.O.R.D.E. Festival '98 appearing at Blockbuster Desert Sky Pavillion, Aug. 25 at 4 p.m. Bands ranging from Blues Traveler to the Barenaked Ladies will perform on the main stage and lawn tickets are only $23.50. Call 321-1000 for more information.
