A female student reported Thursday that a man approached her several times on campus last week.

The student told university police the first encounter occurred while she was sitting on the UA Mall Sept. 8. The man asked if he could sit next to her and she told him "No."

She told police she was walking near the Psychology building, 1503 E. University Blvd., Sept. 10 when she noticed the same man was following her; however, he did not attempt to talk to the student.

The last encounter with the man was just after noon Thursday near North Park Avenue and East First Street. The man said, "Are you new here?" and then told the student he would like to go out with her because she is so beautiful.

According to reports, she told him she had a boyfriend and the man left the area.


A man pulled over for speeding on East Sixth Street was arrested Thursday after university police discovered the bulge in his pocket was a bag of a green leafy substance.

University police stopped James P. Steward, of the 800 block of East Second Street, about 10 p.m. at North Park Avenue and East Lowell Street.

Police detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana on Steward's clothes. However, he denied smoking or having any, reports stated.

The officer then checked Steward's pockets and felt a baggy in his front right pocket.

Steward told officers it was "weed" and handed the officer a baggy with 9 grams of the suspected marijuana, according to reports.

Steward was cited on a possession of marijuana charge and released after he promised to appear in court.


Two male students reported items were stolen out of their vehicles Friday while parked on the top level of McKale Garage, 1642 E. Enke Drive.

Both students told university police they parked at 9:30 p.m. Thursday and returned at 4 p.m. the next day to find both vehicles' passenger side windows broken.

The first student had $350 speakers and $250 worth of compact discs taken from his Ford Explorer.

The second student reported $900 worth of CDs taken from his 1997 Ford pick-up truck.

The student's filed two separate reports.


A female student was arrested on multiple DUI charges Friday morning after university police clocked her going 19 mph over the speed limit on North Euclid Avenue near East University Boulevard.

Mehgan D. Krejsta, 19, of the 1100 Block of East Lee Street, was cited on charges of minor operating a motor vehicle with alcohol in the body and DUI with a blood alcohol content exceeding .1 percent.

University police pulled Krejsta over about 2:30 a.m. at East Helen Street after spotting her speeding on North Euclid Avenue.

According to reports, police smelled alcohol coming from Krejsta and asked her to perform some field sobriety tests.

At UAPD her breath test resulted in a blood alcohol content more than the legal limit of .1 percent. She was cited and released to a friend.


A female student reported receiving an obscene phone call from a man with "unfinished business" Saturday at Hopi Residence Hall, 1440 E. Fourth St.

The student told university police that a "Mark" called about noon and asked to speak with her. The caller asked to talk to her for a while and she agreed believing she might know the person, reports stated.

According to reports, "Mark" said he had to finish what he was doing first. When she asked what he had to finish, "Mark" told the student he was masturbating.

The student then hung up the phone.

Several other female students told police they believed they had received calls from the same person.

The students told police it may be someone living in their dorm and the incidents could be related to fraternity pledging.


Students have reported the theft of 11 mountain bikes from various campus locations over the last week. All of the mountains bikes were secured with cable locks. The total number of bicycles stolen this year is more than 60.
