- Environmentalists Lainie Levick and Randy Seraglio present "Save
the Scenic Santa Ritas," a pictorial tour of the scenery and wildlife
of the area which is proposed for an open pit copper mine by ASARCO, an
international mining company. The presentation begins at 7:45 p.m. in the
Physics and Atmospheric Sciences, Room 201.
- National Optical Astromony Observatory astron omer Richard Green discusses
"From the Interstellar Medium to Massive Black Holes: First Results
from STIS" today at 4 p.m. in Steward Observatory, Room N-210.
- Doctoral candidate Elise Gislaine Pendall discusses the "Effects
of Climatic Seasonality on the Stable Isotopic Composition of Plant Cellulose
and Potention for Paleoclimate Reconstruction" at 10 a.m. in the
Desert Lab Library on Tumamoc Hill.
- Pierre Deymier of the Materials Science & Engineering department
talks on "Anomalous Exponent in the Growth of Anisotropic Polycrystalline
Materials" at 12:30 p.m. today in the Economics building, Room
200.
- Two visiting European scientists present "The Titin Filament
System: Emerging Rules in Physiology and Pathophysiology" today
at 3 p.m. in the College of Pharmacy, Room 325.
