By Rosanna Savone Challenge to a Non-GreekIn regards to Lance Hill's letter to the editor: I, as a proud Greek member who strives to make a difference on campus and in the community, I found your description of the Greek community inaccurate and inappropriate. You state that the Greeks "defame" themselves weekly; however, did it ever occur to you that the Wildcat does not write articles about the many positive aspects of Greek life? Did it ever occur to you that a story about Greek members visiting children with cancer at UMC or sponsoring fund-raisers for all types of philanthropic causes isn't quite as sensational a story as the police closing down fraternity parties? Many members of the Greek community are actively involved in a variety of positive activities on campus which benefit all students at the UA. Unfortunately, those who are not members of the Greek community may be unaware of these positive activities because they do not receive the same front page coverage. Your stereotypical description of a Greek member is very inappropriate. Many Greek members do not have Mommy and Daddy paying for everything nor do we all drive BMWs. My Dodge Neon is proof of that. Such a gross stereotype of any other group or organization on campus would be strongly considered inappropriate and would be met with great opposition. Well, the same rules apply to the Greek community. My challenge to you, Lance Hill, is to learn more about the Greek community and to not use one source of information before you make such inaccurate stereotypical statements. Then maybe your curiosity will be satisfied. Rosanna Savone
