Two men reported seeing a yellow Chevrolet pickup crash through the wooden traffic gates across from the Harvill Building on Sept. 16.

The men told university police the truck was heading westbound on East Second Street near Olive Avenue about 3:30 p.m. when it struck the first gate at full speed as if the driver did not see it.

According to reports, the truck stopped in front of the second gate and waited about one minute before pushing up against the gate slowly until it eventually broke.

They told police the man driving the truck then headed toward North Park Avenue.

A student got the license plate number and gave it to a parking and transportation employee.

Police left a message for the registered owner of the vehicle to contact UAPD.

Parking and Transportation said it would not press charges if the man paid the $48 in damages.

The student told police he yelled an obscenity at the man, who reportedly revved the truck's engine and drove toward the student, knocking him off the bicycle, reports stated. He had a scrape on his left leg from the fall.

According to reports, the man got out of the truck and tried to start a fight.

The student told police he took off on his bicycle due to the man's size.
