Today on Campus
- It's a "Queer Thang" at Hotel Congress tonight. The
UA Committee on Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Studies hosts a back-to-school
meeting at 6 p.m. in the hotel lobby with a cash bar. All interested members
of the UA and Tucson communities are welcome. Call 621-1239 for more information.
- California artist Lita Albuquerque will speak about her involvement
with public art today in the Architecture building auditorium at 7 p.m.
Albuquerque has created over 16 public and environmental art works throughout
the United States and Japan and has exhibited her sculpture and two-dimensional
works in numerous museums and galleries.
- Grab your pint of St. Pauli Girl Dark and come down to the Modern Languages
auditorium tonight at 7:30 p.m. to see Leibelei, the latest in a
string of movies in the German Film Series. Set in turn-of-the-century
Vienna, the film is about a hopscotch of love affairs and a dangerous liaison
that ends in a duel. Based on Arthur Schnitzler's drama, the film critically
draws attention to the fallacious sense of honor upon which morality was
based at the time. A must for Magda Schneider fans.
- Seth R. Marder of the Jet Propusion Laboratory presents "The
Rational Design of Organic Nonlinear Optical Molecules and Materials"
today at 3 p.m. in the Old Chemistry building, Room 209.
- Peter Franken of the UA Optical Sciences Center and Physics Department
presents "A Potpourri of Optical Engineering" today at
3:45 p.m. in the Meinel building, Room 408. Refreshments served at 3:30
p.m.
