Childhood revisited

Arizona Daily Wildcat

See spot run! by Jeffrey Falk

Childhood is often the fodder for artists.

Artist Jeffrey Falk mined the psyche to come up with the images of childhood featured in his exhibition Changeling , showing through Oct. 13 in the Memorial Student Union's Union Gallery.

As Falk states in his introduction to the show, "childhood could be it's own entity."

The works, predominately mixed media, cast the net in to the subconscious of child and come up with bright and interesting images. Falk uses newspaper collages as miasmatic subconscious sea from which definite icons rise. Lambs and black cats and lettered building blocks.

It is the stuff of life, Falk states, "a strange mix of joy, sorrow, non-sense(sic) and the unknowable."
