The UA water polo team will get a chance to prove that they deserve their new No. 1 national ranking this weekend when the team competes in its first series of Southwest Conference games in Fort Collins, Co.

The team enters the tournament as the top seed and will face No. 10 Texas A&M, Colorado, Texas, and Colorado State.

"We may have destroyed our conference opponents in the past, but they now have a clean slate, and we expect some tough challenges ahead," UA head coach Michael Wissot said.

The top ranking came after No. 2 Florida defeated then top-ranked Michigan last week.

Briefly

Tonight, the volleyball team hosts Arizona State at "Break the Record Night" at McKale Center. The first 1,000 fans receive a free slice of Dominos pizza. In addition, T-shirts will be thrown out after every ace served by the Wildcats. Admission is free to students with a valid UA identification card.

The UA soccer team also plays at home, continuing its seven game homestand. Tonight the Wildcats host New Mexico at 7 and on Sunday, the teams plays Creighton at 1 p.m.
