UA head football coach Dick Tomey will have his annual Pony Express Run on Saturday before the Arizona - San Diego State football game. There will be a 10-kilometer elite wheelchair race, an open 5K, a 2-mile fun run/walk, a 5K wheelchair race and an in-line skate race.

If you are interested, you can sign up in the Student Union or on the day of the race on the UA Mall.

The entry fee is $15 and all proceeds from the run will go to aid the Center for Disability Related Resources at the University of Arizona.

Briefly

The men's club water polo team successfully defended it's No. 1 national ranking over the weekend at a Southwest Conference Tournament in Ft. Collins, Colo. Senior Rafael Cuartas lead the Wildcats with 12 goals and junior Bryan Kimbell added nine as Arizona defeated Colorado State 20-7, Texas A&M 28-9, Colorado 18-11, and Texas 24-14.

The team will continue its defense with a scrimmage against the Tucson Old Pueblo Masters team. The game is Sunday morning at 10 at the Student Recreation Center.

This Saturday the men's rugby team will hold a scrimmage at 11 a.m. at Esteban Park, located at Speedway and Main.

Next week marks the beginning of the women's lacrosse season. Practice will be held Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Bear Down Field.

Current winning streak of the women's volleyball team at McKale Center. The school record is 13, and the Wildcats will attempt to tie it Friday in their game against sixth-ranked Washington State and break it Sunday at 11 a.m. against Washington. The streak started last season as the Wildcats closed out the season with five straight wins after an Oct. 6 loss to USC.

The fifth win in the streak was over then eighth-ranked Washington State Nov. 16 of last year.
