Many freshmen on campus Sunday afternoon expressed a mixture of excitement and anxiety about starting their first day of college. Students were intimidated by the university's population of about 35,000 students and larger class sizes. Many feared it would be difficult to keep up with lectures. Freshmen from the East Coast raved about Tucson's climate while students from milder regions such as Wyoming were weary of the heat. Most students were happy with their residence hall accommodations; however, an Apache-Santa Cruz resident said he was surprised when he went over to Coronado where "It looked like Embassy Suites." The Arizona Daily Wildcat nabbed a few freshmen and asked them to reflect on their first couple of days at the University of Arizona. "It's scary but exciting." Heather Layne Physiology of science freshman
"It's nice but I got to get used to walking around. I've never walked this much in my life." Howie Dilema Management information systems freshman
"I think it's going to be harder to learn because there's so many people in the classes and taking good notes will be a challenge." Shaun Lehman Business management freshman
"I got here two days ago and so far it's beautiful the people, the weather and the best part, it's only going to get better. In January, when my friends are shoveling snow in Connecticut, I'll be here wearing shorts and scoping out the honeys." Joey Malaspina undeclared freshman
