Columnist relies on stereotypes

Editor:

As an American of Mexican ancestry, I am getting quite sick and tired of Señora Maria del Sagrario Ramirez's incessant carping about everything not Mexican. Her attitude is of the reasons why many Latinos do not take part in finding solutions to our problems. They just moan and groan that everything is unfair instead of applying that energy to work within the system in order to adapt and make it work for them. And it'll take years to change those stereotypes she writes about.

And talk about stereotyping...she's a master at it. What is this crap about Mexican women who have the full, peachy lips, big mahogany-colored eyes and Jessica Rabbit figures or men who are stocky and husky ? Just like the gringos, Maria, Mexicanos come in all shapes and colors.

Maria, do your kids a favor. Try to live the American dream where anything is possible with hard work and a bit of luck. That's the main reason thousands of Mexican nationals cross the border illegally everyday, not to eat Taco Bell. My heritage is an important part of my life but I use it to help not hinder my search to make a better life for my family. America has been very good to millions of Latinos and they have somehow have managed to work around the bigots and idiots.
