An 18-year old male student was placed in the Dean of Students' diversion program last week after his roommate turned his alleged drug stash over to university police.

Police officers and a resident assistant went to Navajo-Pinal-Sierra Residence Hall, 1557 E. Sixth St., at 12:30 a.m. Oct. 9 after the roommate reported he had seen what he thought was marijuana in the student's desk drawer, according to police reports.

The officers told the roommate they could not open the drawer or ask him to open the drawer without the students consent.

However, according to reports, police told the roommate he could open the drawer if he wanted to.

The roommate then opened the drawer and gave police two resealable plastic bags of a "green leafy substance."

Officers also took an Altoids breath mints box with small amounts of ashes and a green substance.

Police found the student in the hall lobby and told him he had been referred to the dean's office.

An employee reported Wednesday that a man has been sleeping under a stairwell and setting up a "residence" at the Life Sciences South, 1007 E. Lowell St.

The woman told university police she has seen the man under an exterior south west stairwell since Oct. 3, according to police reports.

When police went to the stairwell Wednesday at 9:40 a.m., the man was gone but someone had left a grocery cart with a duffel bag, clothes, bedding and a yellow blanket.

Police took the items and left.

A woman was caught on tape taking a backpack that wasn't hers from an open shelf Thursday at the UA Associated Students Bookstore, 1209 E. University Blvd.

A student told university police she put her Eddie Bauer pack on the shelf about 2:50 p.m. and it was gone when she came back at 3:10 p.m.

According to police reports, the store's security camera shows a woman picking up the pack and exiting the store.

The $50 backpack contained a $90 calculator and a $70 textbook.

Four mountain bikes were reported stolen between Tuesday and Thursday.

A $1,000 Jamis mountain bike was taken between 4:30 and 9 p.m. Tuesday from the north side of the Family and Consumer Resources building, 1110 E. South Campus Drive.

A $345 Trek mountain bike was swiped from the same building Thursday between 4:30 and 4:45 p.m.

Both were secured with cable locks.

A student reported Tuesday her $150 Schwinn was taken between Oct. 3 and 7 from the north side of Old Main, 1200 E. University Blvd.

It was secured with a U-lock, reports stated.

A student's new $80 Roadmaster mountain bike was taken Wednesday between 10 p.m. and midnight from the south side of the Memorial Student Union, 1303 E. University Blvd.

According to reports, the bike's $10 cable lock was also missing.

A Chevrolet truck's window was pried out Thursday while the truck was parked in the lot at North Euclid Avenue and East Fourth Street.

A student told university police she parked her truck in the north west side of lot #5065 at 10 a.m. and found the driver's side window busted at 4:45 p.m.

Police found the window laying on the ground underneath the truck.

Police suspect a hard object was used to take out the window.

The student told police nothing was taken from the truck.

A female student reported Wednesday a male student has been violating a restraining order to stay away from her.

The 24-year-old man told university police it was an accident.

According to police reports, the 22-year-old student told police the man knows when she has class in the Music building. She said in the middle of September the man started hanging around the building and peering into her classroom.

The woman told police the man and his friends have followed her down the hallways of the building, according to reports.

She told police she believes he is trying to see how close he can get to the restraining order's 50-yard distance rule, reports stated.

The man told police he has been in the building during the student's class times because he has been attending music rehearsals.

The man said he had seen her in the hall one day, but it had been an accident, reports stated. He told police he saw the student too late to avoid her.

The man told police the rehearsals are almost complete and he would stay away from the woman.
